2nd February already, eeek!

Well here we are in February already. When is time ever going to slow down some.

This week saw us sustain more storm damage to our already hail damage home. The builders in their infinite wisdom came and put a tarp over part of the house where it was leaking over our kitchen bench. We were hit by another severe storm 2 nights ago (that's about 5 we've had since the first one in December!!!). We now have major damage to the ceiling in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as what first happened in the dining room!

The tarp made the rain run through the roof and come pouring out our ceiling in both rooms through the light fittings, the airconditioning ducts and extra holes that appeared above the kitchen bench that were not there before. It also pour through the surrounds of our solar dome in the bathroom. We were totally flooded. Both ceilings have all the paint work bubbled and puffy like someones tried to heat it with a heat gun, looks like huge blisters where the paint has stretched.

We are so disappointed over this because before it was just a matter of the kitchen ceiling being repaired and painted and the same in the dining room. The dining room didn't leak at all, it didn't have the tarp over it. Hubby's temporary repairs after the first storm are holding there.
Now we think they are going to have to rip out all three ceilings and start again. It's such a nightmare.

Glad we don't have carpet anywhere coz that would have been ruined as well. We built a bit of a dam wall at the bathroom door were it joins the nice wooden floor in the hall way so it didn't go any further. There was so much pouring through there the floor drain couldn't handle the volume coming in. Very frightening to watch it coming through the lights too.

Sooooo today we are leaving all the crap behind and taking our boat out onto Botany Bay for a few hours. It's dull and overcast, just my kind of weather to be able to be outside safely. I hate having lupus, it means I can never be out on a sunny day. But it's still a welcome relief this overcast day compared to the scorchers we've had lately.
