Putting things into perspective...

Well yes, we've been having a dispute over our tree lately and things have progressed to a formal complaint being put before council.

But let me stop here and reflect just what's important right now.

Most of my readers are Australian, but I do have some from overseas. So there's not many that wouldn't know about the devestating bushfires and floods that have reeked havoc on our beautiful island home.

To say the fires down in Victoria are horrific isn't enough. As of the news broadcast I just heard there are 173 confirmed dead, many missing and many injured. I follow the ABC news both tv, radio and on the net. Go to http://www.abc.net.au/news/ and you will see some of the terrible tragedy that has been unfolding since Saturday 7 February 2009. It's gut wrenching, heartbreaking stuff.

PLEASE if you feel you can contribute to the bush fire appeal, please go to the Red Cross's site here ... http://www.redcross.org.au/default.asp At the moment they are asking that people donate money. There are not the resources left available to distribute goods, clothing, food etc. Most infrastructure in the affected areas is gone. Cash is what is needed right now. So if you can, please donate, no matter how small, it all helps.

Thanks my friends and let's all pray for those who's lives will never be the same after last weekend. Let's also pray for those wonderful CFA people, the police and all emergency services who pulled out all stops to get down there and help fight this terrible thing called fire.

It is so very hard to comprehend that many of these fires were deliberatly light. Whoever is responsible, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Believe me, they may not have caught them yet, but they will and when the do the full force of the law will be thrown at the sorry excuses for human beings.

All those people who smoke, please remember we live in Australia, it's a tinderbox at most times of the year. Your carelessness in tossing butts out the window of your cars, or flicking out your ash could cause a bush fire, please don't do it. Cars are built with ashtrays, please use them. Or better still give up that filthy habit, go to your doctor and get assistance to stop. There's new better drugs available now days that can assist you, ask for Champix, it seems to be most effective.

byee for now
